Dr Emily Derrick is a highly experienced consultant specialising in paediatric allergy and general paediatrics.
During her specialty training, Dr Derrick gained her clinical experience in paediatric allergy across three renowned centres — St Mary's Hospital, Royal London Hospital, and Evelina Children's Hospital — and went on to achieve a Masters degree in Allergy.

She currently holds the position of paediatric allergy lead at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, where she provides expert care to infants and children from newborns through to the age of eighteen. Her specialist knowledge encompasses the full range of atopic conditions, including food allergy, respiratory allergy, asthma, eczema, gastrointestinal allergy, allergic rhinitis, and chronic urticaria.

Dr Derrick's clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and management of prevalent food allergies such as cow's milk protein allergy, egg allergy, and peanut and tree nut allergies, alongside hay fever and other allergic reactions triggered by environmental factors. In her capacity as a general paediatrician, she also supports families with wider childhood health concerns, including feeding difficulties, constipation, and general rashes.

With a specific focus on eczema in infants and young children, Dr Derrick has established a community-based eczema education service. She takes a holistic view of patient care, acknowledging the wider effect that allergic conditions have on the whole family, and collaborates closely with families to build individualised management plans.

Routine diagnostic procedures form a key part of Dr Derrick's clinical assessments. She carries out skin prick testing and requests specific IgE blood tests to ensure accurate diagnosis and well-informed treatment decisions, with the flexibility to arrange additional investigations as clinically indicated.

Beyond her NHS role, Dr Derrick runs the British Paediatric Allergy Network, an online professional forum dedicated to those working in the field of paediatric allergy. She plays an active role within the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI), serving as the paediatric scientific programme director.
